10 Simple Ways To Practice Self-Care

I know you have a busy life and the last thing on your mind is to practice self-care. We can sometimes get so busy that we don’t even remember the last time we actually took some time off.

Although I love being productive and accomplishing my goals, I also know how important it is to practice self-care. Self-care is necessary for our overall wellbeing.

Ask yourself: When was the last time I took some time off for myself?

If you have been feeling overly stressed lately, I hope this post is a good reminder for you practice self-care.

1. Have a Relaxation Technique

There are plenty of relaxation techniques. I personally love to take some time to deep breathe for as long as I need. It slows down my heart rate, slows down my mind, and I feel so calm and relaxed afterward. There are many benefits of doing this…

For example:

  • Improved concentration
  • Reduces stress
  • Uplifts your mood
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Reduces pain

2. Walk In Nature

Walking in nature will help relax your mind and body. Breathing in the fresh air and being surrounded by nature will uplift your mood and you will feel at ease.

Bonus tip: While walking in nature, think of all that you are grateful for… Doing this will make you feel amazing! 🙂

3. Take A Warm Bath

I love taking baths; I am sure you do too! So make some time out of the week to take a warm bath, with some candles, nice music, maybe snacks and a drink. Just enjoy for as long as you need.

4. Read Your Favorite Book

Read your favorite book while drinking some tea or coffee. Let your mind forget about your to-do list for a bit and enter another world.

5. Express Your Creativity

Whether you like dancing, writing, singing, drawing, painting, etc. Don’t ever forget to express your creativity, get lost creating something you enjoy.

6. Unplug

It can be easy to get distracted on your phone, tablet, TV, or computer and not realize how many hours went by. But it’s not healthy to be using electronics all the time. Unplug from time to time. Act like your phone doesn’t exist for a while. Trust me; it feels great!!

7. Buy Yourself Some Flowers

Something so simple, but can make you so happy 🙂 I love flowers, they bring such a positive, happy feeling to my home. I think this is a small act of self-care 😉

8. Treat Yourself

Taking care of you eat is of course very important, but from time to time don’t feel bad to indulge in something you love! For me it’s chocolate 🙂 Anything with chocolate I will be happy with. Whatever it is for you, treat yourself as well.

9. Have Lunch/Dinner With Friends

It’s always nice to catch up with friends that make you happy and laugh. Spend time with people who uplift you and always have your best interest at heart. Those are the best type of people you could spend your time with.

10. Write In Your Journal

I have a gratitude journal, and writing everything I am grateful for really helps you see how many blessings you truly have, and how your worries are so small and insignificant.

The whole point of practicing self-care is to do something you enjoy that will help you relax, and wind down. You feel truly fulfilled if you are constantly busy all the time. Let self-care become one of your priorities and make it a daily habit, so you avoid burnout and stress. By taking care of yourself you are not only benefiting yourself, but you will benefit those around you.

Make sure to share this with anyone who might need it ♡

I would love to know what ways you practice self-care 🙂 Share it in the comments below!

These are all great! I like to go to the gym, get coffee or run outside. Also, shopping by myself is super rewarding to me as well.
