There’s a quote that says, “You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret to success is found in your daily routine.” That is why I wanted to create this post giving you 5 daily habits that will change your life. Turning your bad habits into good habits is what will help improve your overall life.
1. Be Grateful Daily
Gratitude is feeling appreciation so deep in your heart for all the beautiful blessings you have in your life. Gratitude has the power of transforming your whole life. It can change the way you view yourself, your friendships, your family, your marriage and the way you view life. It’s a very important habit to practice if you want to increase your happiness and feel satisfied with your life. Many people might already know this but still not put it into practice.
A way to practice gratitude is by having a gratitude journal. Whether that’s on your phone, computer, or an actual journal.
To make feeling grateful a habit, everyday write at least 3 or more things you are grateful for and why you are grateful for them in detail. Even if it’s just for 5 minutes a day, it can make a tremendous positive impact on your day and your life.
Here is an example: I am grateful for_____ because__________________.
Once you are done writing, read it to yourself. Don’t just simply read them but feel the gratitude for each one of those blessings. The key is to feel grateful! You won’t see results just by thinking about gratitude. The positive shift comes from feeling the gratitude in your heart.
It’s easier to be grateful when your life is going great but it’s even more important to practice gratitude when life isn’t going well. That way it will give you hope and help you stay motivated to keep going. It will make you see how you still have so many blessings regardless of the hardship you might be going through.
If you shift your mind from thinking about what is missing in your life to being grateful for what you already have, that is when you will start to see your life change. That is when you start to feel happier and more joyful. You will not only benefit yourself but your happiness and positive outlook will change the lives of those around you.
2. Make Your Health A Priority
Your health is so crucial for changing your life for the better. Simple things like drinking enough water, eating enough fruits and veggies, and staying active are so important for your overall health and wellbeing. We might already know this but not put this into practice. Like they say, “Common sense is not always common practice.”
So start small, start by drinking enough water throughout the day. Drinking water might sound simple yet it’s extremely important. A reason why you might feel tired and drained during the day is because your body is dehydrated. By drinking fresh water you will hydrate your body, and you will feel re-energized.
Next, you can include more whole foods in your diet, like fresh fruits, veggies and decrease the amount of unhealthy processed food you consume. I know it can be difficult but you will notice an increase in your energy, better sleep, improved concentration, and a boost in your happiness knowing you are taking care of yourself and your body.
Another way to make your health a priority is by staying active daily. Even if it’s something as simple as doing stretches or going out for a walk. The point is to get moving every day, whether that is by taking a short walk, going for a run, doing stretches, Pilates, or doing a short workout. Whatever you prefer and makes you feel good!
Staying active will not only help your physical health but it will improve your mental health and decrease your stress levels.
3. Keep Your Life Organized
Being organized will help you feel more in control of your life and have more time for the things that are most important for you. Of course, we will never be perfectly organized in all areas of our life, but having an overall organized life will benefit you in so many ways.
You can start off by creating a daily and weekly schedule. I use a planner and calendar on my phone to plan out and schedule my daily and weekly tasks. If you would like to start organizing your life I would highly recommend you get a planner.
Having a planner will help you stay organized months in advance. It can help you to remember important things like when your bills are due, a special event, an important appointment/meeting or simple everyday tasks.
A planner can also be useful to write down your goals and by when you want to accomplish them. It helps you to be organized in your family life, work life, your home, and daily responsibilities.
4. Daily Remind Yourself About Your Goals
It can be easy to be motivated at the beginning of the year and write down all the goals that you want to achieve throughout the year. But once time passes by we tend to forget about our goals and we get distracted by other unimportant things in life.
That’s why it’s very important to remind yourself of your goals daily. It will keep your goals fresh in mind and help you stay focused and actually achieve them.
So start off by writing down your goals on your notebook, phone, computer, or all three! It’s been proven that individuals who write down their goals have an 80% higher chance of achieving their goals.
Since you now have your goals written down make it a habit of reading them daily and creating an action plan for each of your goals.

5. Practice Daily Self-Care
I know life can be busy and the last thing on your mind is to practice self-care. We can sometimes get so busy that we don’t even remember the last time we actually took some time off. Having daily self-care habits is necessary for our overall wellbeing.
Here is a list of simple daily self-care ideas:
- Take a warm bath
- Read your favorite book
- Walk in nature
- Be creative
- Unplug
- Buy yourself some flowers
- Write in your journal
In this post I go more in depth on simple ways to practice self care
These are some great tips! I love the idea of buying flowers for myself!
Yes! So simple but definitely helps 🙂
My daily self care time includes 3 things on your list; enjoying a mindful walk, journaling and reading. All great tips, thanks for sharing.
That sounds amazing Angie! 🙂 Thanks for sharing that with us!
Love all your tips, they are so simple and so important! I’ll take into account all of them
I definitely need to remind myself of my goals more often. I tend to lose focus, which is not so great for productivity!
We need and must remember we are no good to anyone if we don’t take care of ourselves…
Self-care is so important but seems to fall to the bottom of the priority list in real life. I’m a SAHD with a toddler and a 3 week old newborn and no matter how hard I try, the ‘me time’ isn’t there. Hopefully soon…
I want to start waking up earlier so this really helped and I’ve never thought about some of these.
I absolutely love these! And I love that you lead with being grateful. In my experiences, if we are able to be truly grateful for all that we already have we feel so much more motivated and inspired and the law of attraction starts to go to work.
These are all musts for sure! This has been easier for me as I get older…I’m starting to really realize the importance of self-care. Thanks for these reminders to keep at it!
I have a few of these down already. Looking forward to implementing the others. By summer, I’ll be a whole new (relaxed) person!
Great I loved the idea of drinking water, personally I take so much water….. Nice piece 👌 keep writing 👍
I really agree about getting moving as well, I find that on days where I exercise I feel much more motivated and happy.
