“Happiness is not out there; it’s in you.”
Everyone nowadays seems stressed out, unfulfilled, and unhappy. Do you feel that way at times? Here I will be sharing ways to change that so you can take charge of your life and feel happy again. First, I want to start by saying that happiness is an inside job. Happiness cannot be found in that future car, future house, future job, and so forth. Although these can give a feeling of accomplishment, it tends only to be temporary happiness. Leaving you asking, now what?
So what can you do to feel truly happy? Here are five simple ways to be happy right now…

1. BE GRATEFUL
Being grateful is one of the main reasons someone can feel truly happy. A way to become grateful is by starting a gratitude journal. Whether that’s on your phone, computer, or an actual journal. I have my own gratitude journal because I enjoy writing and that’s what helps me.
Start off by writing down all or at least 10 things you are grateful for, and WHY you are thankful for them. Once you are done, read them to yourself. Don’t just simply read them but try to FEEL the gratitude for each one of those blessings. The key is to FEEL grateful!
Everyone has far greater blessings than they have troubles. Sit and think profoundly of all you are thankful for. If you do this every day, at some point it will become part of you, and instead of thinking about all your troubles or the things you don’t have, you will guide yourself back to thinking about all your current blessings.
Of course, you should still have goals for yourself and continue growing, but don’t wait till those goals are accomplished to be happy. Be happy with what you have achieved till now, and be happy looking forward to achieving your future goals.
2. BE PRESENT
I myself have to work on this every day… Our minds are so easily distracted with unimportant things that we forget to pay attention to how precious this very moment is.
So be aware of your surroundings. Be present and appreciate the little things that one takes for granted. Instead of thinking of how much better life was in the past or being stressed about the future, enjoy the present and make every moment beautiful.
3. HAVE A POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT
Whether you live in a house, apartment, or just your room. Having a positive environment is crucial to help you feel happier.
Having a clean and organized space can help your mind feel at peace.
Have home decor and a color palette that you love and makes you happy.
Even something as simple as having fresh flowers or a beautiful plant can bring positivity.
Put inspiring quotes around your home if you like that. I do! 🙂
Open up the curtains and let that natural light shine! This lifts up anybody’s mood.
Remove things that don’t make you happy or remind you of a bad experience. There is no room for negativity in your life! Especially in your precious home ♡
4. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
I know you are probably busy taking care of everyone else around you except yourself. But you are important too! Take care of yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, and most important spiritually.
- Try to sleep enough hours & eat well.
- Go out for a walk in nature or the beach.
- Educate yourself.
- Read a book or article that will benefit you.
- Do some stretches or work out.
- Pamper yourself.
Most importantly, read your Bible & pray.
Do things that make you feel fulfilled in every way! Mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. By taking care of each of these aspects, there will be no doubt you will feel happy.
5. HELP OTHERS
Last but not least is helping others. Something as simple as giving someone a sincere smile can make them feel better. Giving compliments can help a person from feeling blah to feeling happy. Encouraging and motivating someone who has worked hard on something can help them to keep pursuing it. Being there for someone when they are sad or depressed helps them not feel alone.
These are just some simple ways to help others. The point is to help others because you not only lift them up, but you lift yourself up.
By helping others, you will feel happy, and it will make your heart feel rejoiced. ♡
The only one that has the power of making you happy is yourself. Of course, we will always have our good and bad days, and that is perfectly fine. The goal is to have as many good days as we can or turn a bad day into a good day 🙂
