Although I don’t dread Mondays, I know most people could agree that they don’t look forward to Mondays at all. That is when most people usually go back to school or work and they find it hard to get excited for the week ahead. Today I will be sharing with you 5 things you can do to change your outlook and look forward to Monday and the week ahead. Most of these tips are things you can do Sunday evening to help you prepare to have a better and productive Monday. So what are the 5 ways to make Mondays suck less? Here they are, my friend! π

1. Spend Sunday Evening Rejuvenating
The whole week you were busy and on the go so it’s important to take some time off on Sundays to feel well-rested on Monday. I usually try to get everything done early on Sundays so that my husband and I could have a relaxed Sunday evening to re-energize and be ready for the following week.
If you don’t take the time to relax the day before, you will most likely feel tired and drained the following day (Monday) needing coffee all day long to get through the day. SoΒ make time to relax on Sunday evening by doing something that rejuvenatesΒ you.
Here are some tips:
- Pamper yourself
- Read a book
- Drink a calming tea
- Light up stress-relieving candles
- Listen to relaxing music
- Take a bath
- Write in your journal
- Take a short nap
- Watch your favorite movie
I’m sure you get the point π
You can read more about ways to de-stress here.
2. Go To Bed Early
This goes hand in hand with the 1st tip because getting enough hours of sleep Sunday night will make you feel much more energized on Monday and this will also help you have a better attitude ;). I don’t know about you, but when I don’t get enough hours of sleep I feel a little cranky π So sleeping enough hours will assure you have a better Monday because you will be rejuvenated and fully rested.
Getting enough sleep will help you perform better at work or school and you will be a lot more productive.
3. Get Everything Ready For Monday
This tip will really help your Monday suck less because if you have to wake up really early, knowing you have everything set and ready will give you peace of mind Monday morning. You won’t feel as rushed and stressed so early in the morning.
Here are some things you can do the day before to be ready for Monday:
- Have your home tidy before you go to bed
- Have your outfit laid out & ready
- Pack up your lunch
- Prepare your dining table for breakfast
- Write down your Mondays to-do list
Doing this will help you tremendously because you are already having a great start to the day having peace of mind knowing that you ready for the day! π
4. Do Something Nice For Someone
Doing a random act of kindness on Monday will for sure transform your day into being blah and boring to feeling so cheery and happy. Helping or doing something nice for someone else automatically makes you feel good.
Here is a list of simple random acts of kindness:
- Send a thoughtful thank you text or email to a loved one and truly mean it
- Take some coffee or breakfast for your co-worker(s)
- Give someone a sincere compliment
- Make a romantic dinner for your significant other after work
- If you go to a restaurant, leave aΒ gracious tip for the waiter (you will make their day!)
- Hold the door for someone
- Let your family know how grateful you are for them
- Buy your mom flowers
Random acts of kindness are something you can incorporate every day, not just on Mondays. Trust me, if you do this, it will make your Monday so much better.
5. Plan Something Exciting
Mondays don’t have to be boring, you can choose to make it more fun by planning out something that you will enjoy after school or work. Plan something out that will excite you and you will look forward too. That way when Monday morning comes you will be excited looking forward to your fun plans.
Here are some ideas:
- Lunch with your friend and catch up
- Date night on a Monday
- Have a movie night
- Take an afternoon walk at the beach
- Watch your favorite TV show
The list can go on! You can plan out something simple but fun to look forward to on Monday.
Bonus Tip!
This might be something you don’t feel like doing but it will definitely change your outlook and the way you feel on Monday. Which is to get dressed up.
Wear a nice outfit, do your hair and makeup. Like they say… ” If you look good, you feel good!” It has been proven that the way you dress helps increase your confidence and improves your mood. If you look amazing on a Monday, there is no doubt that you will feel amazing!
Take a little extra time to get dressed up and you will feel ready to conquer the day!
Conclusion
If you actually do the tips I suggested above, I have no doubt that it will help Mondays suck less. HereΒ is a short rundown of what we mentioned today:
- Spend Sunday Evening Rejuvenating
- Go To Bed Early
- Get Everything Ready For Monday
- Do Something Nice For Someone
- Plan Something Exciting
- Bonus Tip: Dress Up

Working from home means I dread Mondays FAR less than I used to BUT that doesn’t mean I’m actually looking forward to them… They are still the start of the work week and the end of the weekend relaxing with my husband. There are a couple tips here I haven’t tried, so I will incorporate them in next and see how it goes!
Hi, nice tips. Although I don’t like to dress up ;). Another good tip would be to practice some mindfulness throughout the day.
