7 Happiness Tips For Your Home: Create A Home You Love

Whether you live in a small house, apartment, condo or just a room, you can turn your home into a place that you truly love. Today I will be giving you 7 happiness tips for your home to create a home you truly love! By just doing simple things that will help you feel happier in your home and truly enjoy being there.

It feels good to change things up in your home and make it a place where you feel happy, safe and relaxed.

7 Happiness Tips For Your Home: Create A Home You Love

1. Appreciate The Home You Have

I know it could be easy to start comparing your home to someone else’s. But we need to learn to be grateful for what we already have. There are people out there that can only wish they could have a roof over their heads. So don’t ever take your precious home for granted.

Realize that it’s a true blessing to be able to call a place your home. Be grateful that you have a place where you can sleep safely at night, take a warm shower, have dinner with family, have movie nights, invite your family and friends over. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

Now let’s go on and see what else you can do to love and appreciate the home you have even more 🙂

2. Keep Your Home Clean & Organized

This goes hand in hand with keeping your home organized and clutter-free. You also want your home to be clean and tidy. What can help is to have a cleaning routine.

Having a morning and night cleaning routine will keep your home tidy. Take 15 to 30 minutes out of your day to clean in the morning and at night.

Here goes an example of my quick every day morning and night cleaning routine (not including deep cleaning).

Morning Routine:

  • Make the bed (it takes about 2 minutes and makes a huge difference in the way you feel! Trust me!)
  • Clean up the bedroom
  • Clean the restroom
  • Put dry dishes away

Night Routine:

  • Wash dishes
  • Wipe down countertops
  • Tidy up dining table
  • Clean up the living room
  • Clean my desk

(I’m sure I missed out some thing’s, but that’s okay, you get the point) 😉

Because of my night cleaning routine, I wake up to a clean home… which feels great!

The most important tip is to clean up after yourself throughout the day. It will help the dishes not pile up to the heavens, and it will save you time during your morning and night cleaning routine.

Another tip is to take the time to deep clean your home at least once a week and by the end of the month, you will have less to deep clean

3. Organize & Simplify

Whenever I feel my home unorganized and cluttered, I usually don’t feel as happy or inspired in that type of environment. When you start feeling uninspired and unmotivated in your home, it’s time to get rid of clutter, simplify and organize. It will give you mental clarity which in turn will help you feel much happier and less stressed. There are so many benefits to have an organized and de-cluttered space, like an increase in your creativity, productivity, happiness, and it gives you peace of mind.

Start by making a list of what you want to organize and simplify in your home. This might take some time but it will be entirely worth it in the end.

If you don’t have time to tackle your entire house then you can simply organize for just 5-15 minutes a day and it will make a huge impact to your home organization, and by the end of the week, you will have plenty of things organized.

  • You can organize and clean out your purse or briefcase
  • Your desk
  • Makeup or Jewelry
  • Pantry
  • Fridge
  • Closet
  • Mail or paperwork
  • Etc.

What also helps is to declutter your home once a week and get rid of stuff you don’t need or use anymore.

4. Bring Nature Indoors

Bring nature indoors with fresh flowers and beautiful plants. There are many benefits to having these in your home. It makes your home feel welcoming; it gives a positive atmosphere, and it gives you something beautiful to look at every day.

The grocery store always has beautiful and affordable flowers and plants to buy for your home. You can add some flowers/plants in every room in your house, and it will make your home feel amazing!

Bringing nature indoors can benefit your health and overall wellbeing and having plants will help improve the air quality in your home.

5. Add Personal Touches

Adding personal touches will make your place feel more like home. You can add photos of your friends and family; you can also add inspirational quotes around your home that bring you happiness and joy. Add beautiful art in certain rooms in your home that you find beautiful and inspiring.

6. Add New Home Decor & Accessories

There are simple home decor items that you can buy that are inexpensive that will change-up the way you feel about your home. For example, it could be as simple as hanging a better together neon sign, or a neon sign in another design, in your living space. I like changing up my home every season; it helps to freshen up my home.

Something you can get that is inexpensive but will make a huge difference in your home is to buy new throw pillows and curtains. These simple items can definitely make a difference in how you feel in your home. If you don’t want to spend any money on new home decor then you can paint and refurbish the furniture that you already have. You can also re-arrange the rooms to make extra space in your home to freshen it up.

7. Create A Beautiful Atmosphere

You can create a beautiful atmosphere with simply some great music and candles. Try creating a beautiful ambiance in your home every day. It will surely help you feel more at ease and bring you a sense of joy in your home.

Open up the curtains and windows daily to let natural light in and refresh your home.

Summary

What’s most important to love the home you currently have is to be grateful you even have a place to call home. Be grateful that you have a place where you can sleep safely at night, take a warm shower, have dinner with family, have movie nights, invite your family and friends over. It’s truly a beautiful thing! 🙂

What tips do you have for loving the home you have?

Have a lovely day! 🙂

I officially feel inspired! After I read this I opened my blinds to let some natural sunlight in (although its a BIT gloomy today in Melb) and got to work with redecorating! It’s the best when you have a day off and you allow for spontaneous tasks like this! Glad I came across this post! xx

Great tips! I personally struggle with throwing/giving away/ selling things that I don’t use the most because I sometimes fear that I will need it in the future. However, sometimes I also err on the other extreme and give away something that I needed later.

I’m slowly working my way through the house to de-clutter and I try to do one ‘thing’ every week – i.e. one drawer or one part of the closet or one area of the living room. It’s helped me a lot! I’ve also been re-organizing my pantry and really thinking about what storage containers I want and finding exactly what works for our space and needs and it’s AMAZING!!

The most difficult part of cleaning is motivation. It is easy to get distracted by some many other things (especially if everything is a mess). I am going to try the list approach (I have been known to make lists for everything else!). Thanks for this wonderful post!
