I know many people struggle with becoming a morning person (myself included). There are certain things that I have learned and implemented that have helped me become a morning person. I haven’t always been a morning person, but I have gotten better at it! Maybe you also find it hard to become a morning person, so here are some tips that can help you out 🙂
START THE NIGHT BEFORE
If you are always in a rush in the mornings; it’s good to prepare the night before.
- Have your clothes laid out and ready
- Decide what you will eat for breakfast the next day and have your lunch and snacks ready for the next day
- Write down a list of things you need to get done the following day
What can also help is setting your alarm for the following day to have a beautiful song instead of an annoying beeping noise that will make you dread waking up in the morning.
SLEEP EARLIER & WAKE UP EARLIER
Getting enough sleep is important for you to feel well rested the next morning and to have proper brain function. So of course, sleeping earlier will help you wake up earlier.
Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier than you usually wake up to give you more time in the morning and that way you won’t feel as stressed and rushed before you have to leave for work or school.
OPEN UP YOUR CURTAINS
The light from outside will help to naturally wake you up and put you in a better and positive mood 🙂
MAKE YOUR BED
This is a MUST for me. Making your bed can make you feel a sense of peace and help you feel more organized and in turn, make you more productive throughout the day. Having your bed unmade tends to make you feel lazy and less productive.
PUT ON UPLIFTING MUSIC
While you are getting ready in the morning put on music that you love and makes you happy. Either something relaxing or something you can sing and dance too! 🙂
STRETCH & DRINK WATER
Stretching at least for a couple of minutes will help get the blood to circulate properly throughout your body and make you feel more awake. It’s also important to drink water in the morning. One reason why you might feel tired after sleeping plenty of hours is that your body was dehydrated throughout the night. By drinking fresh water in the morning, you will hydrate your body, and you will feel re-energized. It always works for me!
EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST
I’m not a breakfast person, but I do notice a difference when I eat a healthy breakfast or I drink a delicious smoothie I feel more awake and energized! So even if you don’t get hungry in the mornings, try to eat at least something simple to fuel your body and feel more energy.
HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO
Look forward to something every day that way in the morning when you wake up you have something to get excited about!
Even if it’s something as simple as:
- Some yummy coffee.
- Having lunch with your friend.
- Going out somewhere fun after work.
- Taking a walk at the beach.
Anything that will get you excited for the day!
SUMMARY
You won’t become a morning person overnight, so be patient with yourself and keep trying to find ways that work better for you. It’s worth it because it has been proven that waking up earlier makes you feel more positive and optimistic. I hope these tips help you in some way so you can get better at becoming a morning person.
