Create A Daily & Weekly Schedule
I use a planner and calendar on my phone to plan out and schedule my daily and weekly tasks. If you would like to start to plan and organize your life I would highly recommend a planner.
The benefits of having a planner are many; it can help you stay organized months in advance. It can help you to remember important things like when your bills are due, a special event, an important appointment/meeting or simple everyday tasks.
A planner can also be useful to write down your goals and by when you want to accomplish them. It helps you to be organized in your family life, work life, your home, and daily responsibilities.
Set Goals For Yourself
Having short term and long term goals in your life is very important to have your life well planned and organized. Without goals, you can feel lost and have no focus in life.
So sit down and write down what goals you want to set for yourself this year or for these upcoming months. It’s been proven that individuals who write down their goals have an 80% higher chance of achieving their goals.
Once you write down your goals make sure to create an action plan and deadline. Schedule in your calendar what days you will be completing the tasks that will get you closer to your main goal. You can also set alarms to remind yourself of what day and time you need to complete certain tasks. Lastly, you need to set a deadline by when you want to reach your goal.
Keep Your Home Clean & Organized
For me, having a clean and organized home makes me feel like I have my life together. Mentally my mind feels clearer and I have an increase in my productivity throughout the day. Many people also feel this way so something you can do to help you keep your home clean and organized is to have a daily cleaning routine.
Having a morning and night cleaning routine will keep your home tidy. Take 15 to 20 minutes out of your day to clean in the morning and at night.
Here goes an example of my quick every day morning and night cleaning routine (not including deep cleaning, which I do once or twice a week).
Morning Routine:
- Make the bed (it takes about 2 minutes and makes a huge difference in the way you feel! Trust me!)
- Tidy up the bedroom
- Clean the restroom
- Put clean & dry dishes away
Night Routine:
- Wash dishes
- Clean countertops
- Wipe down dining table
- Tidy up the living room
- Declutter my desk
Because of my night cleaning routine, I wake up to a clean home… which feels great!
The most important tip is to clean up after yourself throughout the day. It will help the dishes not pile up, and it will save you time during your cleaning routine.
If you don’t enjoy cleaning or have no motivation for it, here is a post I wrote giving you 5 tips to get you motivated to clean your home.
Manage Your Time Wisely
I wrote an entire post on the best time management tips to get more done faster. By managing your time wisely, you will be able to achieve your tasks and goals in a shorter amount of time which will give you more free time to do the things you enjoy doing. It can truly be life-changing because it will reduce your stress, give you more free time, make you feel accomplished, and you will have less overwhelm in your life.
Organize Your Finances
Organizing your finances is very important, that way you can stay out of debt, and you can save money for the important things in life. Creating your own finance chart can help you stay organized and can help you accomplish your financial goal.
I created our own finance chart in Microsoft Excel, and it has helped us to stay financially organized and not go beyond our means. Build your chart to help you know how much to set aside for bills, how much you can set aside for savings, and for other necessities.
There are also very helpful finance/budget apps that can help you keep your finances organized. What can also help is to have a finance notebook like this one.
A tip is to always put money in the savings first after calculating all your bills and then you will know how much you have to spend on going out. Remember, it’s always better to sacrifice the ordinary things in life to be able to get extraordinary.
Simplify Your Life
Simplifying your life can help you obtain more time, money, and peace of mind. Sometimes having too many material things end up complicating our life instead of bettering it.
If you have things in your home, workplace, and a car that you have wanted to get rid of now is the time. Get rid of things that you don’t need or don’t find useful anymore; it will save you time cleaning and organizing because you will have fewer things to have to organize.
Also by not buying things that you don’t need, it will help you save money in the long run. It will also give you peace of mind because the less clutter you have in your overall life, the more calm and peaceful you will feel.
By simplifying your life it will also make it easier to plan and organize your life because now you will have fewer things to worry about.
Summary
As I had mentioned above, we will never reach perfection but we can always improve and get better at planning and organizing our days. Start out organizing your life little by little and don’t overwhelm yourself by wanting to do too much at once.
