I love reading articles and watching videos on how to stay focused because we all need that reminder now and then. Everyone is so busy nowadays, and it’s important to make sure that we are busy doing things that truly matter in life and will benefit our lives. We can all get sidetracked and distracted by so many things that don’t really matter. So I have been trying my best to make a conscious effort to stay focused and today I will be sharing with you ways that help me stay focused that I try to implement every day.
LIMIT DISTRACTIONS
This is something I work on every day since my blog involves a lot of social media and reading emails which can get me easily distracted. So I intentionally limit my distractions now and I have gotten better and better as time goes by. For everyone else it might be different, maybe someone might need to limit how much time they watch TV, videos, etc.
So really think of what area in your life you need to work on limiting distractions. This is so important because if you let yourself become distracted all the time, at some point you will feel so lost and it will be a lot harder to focus on what you need to get done.
By doing this, you will get back more time in your life and you will have more time for the important things in life.
SAY NO MORE OFTEN
Saying no more often doesn’t mean you will be saying no to everything, you will just say no to things that are not aligned with you need to achieve. You will be able to be twice as more productive because you have more spare time to do things that are important to you.
I have learned to say yes more wisely now and it has helped me stay focused on what I need to get done. I no longer say yes just because I feel bad. If you value your time, others will too π
GET ORGANIZED
Another tip that helps me to stay focused is to get organized. Sometimes you could have so much to do and it’s all in your head stressing you out and it doesn’t let you focus. So write down every single thing that you need to do and then prioritize each task.
I usually write everythingΒ down by category and number each task by importance.
For example:
Home:
- Wash clothes
- Clean kitchen
- Clean out fridge
- Etc.
Work:
- Write blog post
- Post on social media
- Answer emails
- Etc.
Health:Β
- Walk for 30 minutes
- Stretch and work out
- Drink green juice
- Etc.
What also helpsΒ to stay focused is to have a clean and organized environment. If my home and workspace is clean and clutter free, my mind feels less distracted and more focused on what I need to get done.
BE CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE
In order to stay focused you need to be clear on what you want. Whether you want to finish a certain task or if you have a certain goal you want to meet then you need to be clear on the steps that you need to take to achieve it. Being clear on what you want and what you need to do will help you stay focused on the steps you need to take to complete it.
βA dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.β
Seriously figuring out what you want to get done has got to be the key! Great post, super super helpful!
Thank you Kennedy! π

Thank you for this. I found it interesting that you write everything down by category. I just have a long list so maybe breaking it down will work better.
Yes breaking it down will definitely help! π Hope you try it out and it works for you <3

Loving your tips – I’m all about the small focused goals as they really help me keep focused. Exercise to me us key – I don’t think I’d cope without a small amount of walking each day. Thanks for sharing!

I love that last quote! I am a relatively new blogger, so the social media aspect makes it VERY easy to get distracted. I really needed this!

Such helpful tips x
Very useful tips, especially splitting things into categories.
I really like your organization strategy by putting tasks into categories and listing in order of importance. I need to try that myself.

Love your tips! Getting it all out of my brain is such a huge relief! It feels more manageable. π
My one question after reading your excellent article, is, how do you limit the number of items on your TD list?
But I do like how you’ve broken it down to three easily visible categories!
