10 Best Plugins For Your WordPress Site
I am in no way saying that my blog posts are perfect because they aren’t. Although I do always try my best to be as informative as I can, I know they are not perfect. But I wanted to share some tips on how to write a blog post that might help some of you that are just starting out 🙂
This post contains affiliate links. If you’d like, you can read full disclosure policy here.
1. Have An Appealing Headline (Title)
This will attract people to click through and read your blog post. People need to know what they are going to get out of your post. If you need some ideas, here is a great article that will give you 100+ Blog Post titles that will grab people’s attention 😉
2. Have An Introduction
You can provide a small or long introduction about what the reader can expect to learn from your blog post. Let them know what they will learn if they keep reading your blog post and this will encourage them to continue reading.
3. Have Subheadings
This helps break down your blog post, and it will look organized and easier to understand. For example, in this post, there are ten subheadings, and it makes it easier for you to read through this blog post.

4. Small Paragraphs
It is easier on the eyes to read small sections as suppose to ongoing words, most likely people will just get bored and drift away. I think 4 to 5 short sentences in a paragraph is perfect! I sometimes write fewer sentences 🙂
5. Have Bold Texts and Bullet Points
This one isn’t mandatory but the majority of individuals are in a rush when reading a blog post, so make it easier for them to grasp all the information by having bullet points and bold text to help get your point across without them having to read your entire blog post.
6. Have Good Quality Photos
Photos always make a blog post more fun and interesting. I recommend having a Pinterest-friendly picture for when people want to share it, that way they can use the image you created.
Some of the pictures I use on my blog are my own, and the rest are from Haute Chocolate, she has such lovely photos. I absolutely love them! It has saved me so much time and stress by not having to take time out of my day to take professional looking photos because it is very time-consuming. You can check out her lovely photos here.
7. Add Bonus Information
Make sure to link to other similar blog posts that are about the same topic as your current post. You can also share other people’s posts that are useful for your audience if they want to read more information about it.
8. Ask Questions
At the end of your posts always ask questions, that way you can start a discussion and it encourages people to comment 🙂
9. Always Aim For 500+ Words
I have read that the longer your blog posts are, the better. I always try to aim for over 500+ words because it helps your SEO ( Search Engine Optimization) which will help increase your blog traffic.
10. Be Consistent
Be consistent and have new blog posts every week, even if it’s just once a week. Google likes blogs that are consistent, and this also helps your SEO.
Tip: Use the Yoast SEO plugin to help you write SEO friendly blog posts.

Interesting tips! I’ve found the meatier my content is the more reads. I post one header image, sometimes a few images of the trip I did, but otherwise I limit the visuals. I’m honing my writing skill though and I post a LOT on Instagram and Twitter so maybe that’s just me?
Great tips! I didn’t know that about 500+ words and SEO – thanks!
